Arpocore™ For Engineering Plastic Applications
Arpocore™ is widely applied in a broad range of engineering plastics, serving to decrease the friction coefficient, to increase the wear resistance and to add fire retarding properties in all high-performance engineering plastic compounds (ranging from conveyor belts to automotive industries).
Traditionally, engineering plastic manufacturers use (amongst others) glass, carbon or molybdenum sulphide and zinc sulphide to make compounds such as PA66 and POM more resistant to wear and/or to reduce friction. But these additives make engineering plastic compounds more abrasive, eroding the materials with which they come into contact. With the implementation Arpocore™ aramid powder, it is possible to influence the friction positively whilst simultaneously increasing the wear resistance.
Therewith, the implementation of Arpocore™ into the engineering plastic compounds serves direct benefits to the end product’s quality, lifetime and sustainability. Also, engineering plastics with Arpocore™ added as integral part of the compound, dissipate their energy efficiently. This significantly improves their damping properties, which makes them particularly suitable for applications where controlled vibration and sound minimization is required.
Another remarkable benefit of Arpocore™ is the low flammability and fire retarding function the product serves when implemented in engineering plastics. This makes it possible to use Arpocore™ in both warm and fire-sensitive circumstances and surroundings.

Frequently asked questions about Arpocore™
Arpocore™ is compatible with color/pigments and resins. The product “adopts” the color that is used in the final product. This means that Arpocore™ is not visible in the final product.
Arpocore™ is very light compared to e.g. mineral fillers/additives and only a relatively small weight/amount of powder is required to cause a significant friction increase. Most of the time, quantities of 10-65 grams per liter are used.
The most additives make the engineering plastic compounds more abrasive, eroding the materials with which they come into contact. With Arpocore™, it is possible to influence the friction positively whilst simultaneously increasing the wear resistance. This way, the lifetime of the products will be extended and less repeating of production is necessary. This makes Arpocore™ a sustainable solution.
